What's in most cereals?
If you're looking to up your breakfast game, unfortunately you'll have to weed out many types of cereals and granolas that don't provide much in terms of nutrition.
Most cereals in the grocery store are made with processed grains (such as refined wheat, corn and rice) as well as lots of added sugar. Many popular cereals also contain artificial sweeteners, flavors and additives to help improve their taste.
Because the majority of breakfast cereals lack whole food ingredients, they're missing the protein and fiber that's essential for keeping you energized and satisfied.
Another major concern with most breakfast cereals is consumption of too much added sugar (including granola!), which is associated with issues including weight gain, cravings for more sweets, and potentially gut issues and inflammation throughout your body.
The result? You wind up eating a breakfast that is convenient and tasty, but you're likely to deal with hunger, cravings and low energy shortly after.
This is obviously not the ideal way to start your day.
The health benefits of muesli are many and include being GUUD for skin, GUUD for energy, GUUD for sleep, GUUD for weight management and GUUD for that digestive system that may need some TLC.
Muesli is better for you than granola. Granola is filled with sugar and cooked with oils while muesli is whole, unprocessed foods with no or very little added sugar.
While oatmeal is healthy, it is a bit boring. Muesli brings additional flavor and nutrition with added nuts, seeds and dried fruit.
A "functional food" is any food that provides nutrients which support overall health — such as by contributing to growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, normal digestion and elimination, and improved energy and cognitive function.
We consider GUUD mueslis to be functional cereals thanks to their supply of fiber, prebiotics, plant-based protein, healthy fats and antioxidants.
All of our mueslis are made with minimally processed, nutrient-rich ingredients such as: whole rolled oats, flax, pumpkin and chia seeds, dried berries, cocoa, coconut, cashews, almonds and more.
These ingredients provide benefits such as: helping to fuel your muscles, improving energy and performance, supporting gut health and immune function, boosting your focus, making you feel fuller for longer and more. Plus, each serving of our muselis has only between 0 and 5 grams of added sugar, without sacrificing taste.
